Bridge gets protection

February 2007

Michaelston BridgeAfter many months of complaining by the Community Council about the state of the Michaelston Bridge, Caerphilly council has finally come up a with a plan to protect the bridge.

The council have erected bollards at each end of the bridge to protect it from vehicles hitting the walls. They also laid high kerbing to guide vehicles into the middle of the road on their approach to the bridge.

However, there have been quite a few complaints from residents that the bollards and high kerbing makes the bridge look unsightly.

"The curbing looks unattractive" says Councillor Davies, who hopes that a better scheme will be devised.
