Since the 5th Century, St Michael's has been the parish church of Michaelston-y-Fedw and a Christian presence in the local community.
We hold regular Sunday Services at St Michael's which range from Morning Prayer to Holy Communion and all are welcome to attend - we would be so glad to see you!
We also have special events and services throughout the year.
If you need any information (such as service times, special events, baptisms, weddings or funerals), or would like to speak to someone confidentially, please be in touch with the Reverend Dean Aaron Roberts by telephoning the church office on 02921 880 212 or emailing email@example.com.
One thing I love about our village is its ability to come together as one community to celebrate special occasions and times of year. For Christians, Christmas is one of those times. As your local friend and vicar here in Michaelston-y-Fedw, I would love to invite you to four special events that I am hosting this year to mark Christmas in our village. You would be most welcome and it's always great to catch up with you all.
The first event is our Christmas Carol Service which will be held in St. Michael's on Sunday 16th December at 6pm, followed by refreshments. At this service, we will sing some favourite carols together by candlelight, remembering the Christmas nativity together. In recent years I've had to take Carol Services elsewhere, and so I'm very glad to be back this year for this very special service. One of my first experiences of Michaelston-y-Fedw was seeing the church full at the Carol Service, and I do hope it will be so this year.
The second event is our Beer and Carols event in the Cefn Mably Arms. This is now a Michaelston-y-Fedw tradition, and we are so fortunate to have a wonderful village pub with wonderful landlords who host us so well, with staff who have a gift in hospitality. We will be starting from 7pm(ish) on Friday, 21st December, and will go on into the evening. The event is "fluid" which means you can come and go as you please but previous years have shown that the pub is packed to the rafters. As it's the final Friday before Christmas, I suggest you come over to let your hair down, relax, have a good sing, and some drinks!
The third event is our Midnight Mass on Christmas eve at 11:00pm in church. This event speaks for itself and quite often, many find their way to church on their way home from the pub. We'd love to see you!
The fourth and final event I wish to invite you to is our Christmas Day Family Service, at St. Michael's on Christmas Day at 11:30am. This will be a very short service, where we will sing a carol or two, have a family friendly talk, and show off some of our presents together, before heading over to the pub for their Christmas Day opening. I imagine the service will be about 30-40mins long, and is very much suited to all ages. As many of you will be pubbing it on Christmas Day anyway, it would be great to see you just before you go over. Please come dressed in your favourite Christmas jumper!!
I send this hoping that all your Christmas preparations are going well, and I look forward to seeing many of you over the coming weeks. Always remember that I'm here for you - I'm only an email/call away.
With my love & prayers,
